MAGGIE IS 8 TODAY

Maggie Ruth is 8 today. Happy Birthday, Maggie. I had great plans to have a cookie party for her like I did last month for Grace's 8th. But, today Maggie was home from school with a stomach virus and and temperature. We did take her present to her. Maybe we can have the cookie party next week. Here is Maggie eating her cookie she decorated at Grace's party.
Here is Grace Elizabeth decorating her cookie at her own Happy Birthday cookie party. Grace is a sweetheart!

On January 5 Mom and Dad celebrated 64 years of marriage.

OH YEAH! I'M A RUNNER!

The thermometer on the deck, in the sun, this morning said 39 degrees. Since I ate badly yesterday I was determined to go for a run. I did dress in layers for the cold. I knew it was breezy. When I got to the lake, my exterior temp on the car said 31 degrees. The sun was shining, but boy the lake sure did look cold. I did it any. I nearly turned back a couple of times. I had on a tube scarf that wouldn't stay up over my nose. My cap nearly blew off twice.

When I got on the back side, I saw two men sitting in a small boat. I thought they were nuts, at the same time it made me feel better that I wasn't the only crazy out there. They were worse than me for being ON the lake. When I got closer I saw they had on hard hats and one just like them was standing on the shore. Evidently they were Center Point Energy workers. Why out on the water, I haven't a clue. Anyway, if you have to be out there for your work, I guess your not quite as nutty as a jogger.

Halfway done I got to turn my back to the wind and run towards the sun. It was time to take off the gloves and jacket. Although my face was still cold, I was now sweating. I did my route in the car the other day and came of with 3.2 miles. I did it on MapMyRun site and came up with 3.7 miles. At least I can say it is over 3 miles. This morning I ran it in just under 42 minutes. I think that's pretty good for this old gal.

Todays' blustery run made me think of the song by Bob Segur, "Against The Wind".

Against the wind
I'm still runnin' against the wind
I'm older now but still runnin' against the wind
Well I'm older now and still runnin'
Against the wind
Against the wind
Against the wind
