ANOTHER JULY IN ARKANSAS

Can you believe we are smack-dab in the middle of Summer? I always thought things would be slow and easy going after retirement. Not....

After spending the afternoon plucking rose petals to strew around his apartment, Baby Son popped the question to his beautiful girlfriend. And, she said "Yes". So, we will be traveling to O.C. in November for the big event.

Our garden is starting to produce. We are getting cucumbers and tomatoes. The corn is starting to silk. And, I finally saw my first okra bloom. We've been concerned with the raccoons and deer getting in our garden. The other day I found a green tomato on the squirrel feeder. That would have been a sight seeing him run across the backyard from the garden to the feeder!

We had a pair of Eastern Phoebe birds raise a brood on our deck. They are not particularly pretty birds. They are bug catchers. I saw them catching plenty of bugs, but I still endured plenty of mosquito bites. They also made a big mess on our deck. Bird poop everywhere!

This dog lives down the street. He has his own little route that he takes through the neighborhood. He goes through marking his territory and harassing other dogs who do not have the privilege of free-roam status. We call him "Dingo Dog". We have no idea what breed he actually is. Maybe somebody someday will see this picture and enlighten us.
