IT'S RAINING
Here are a few updates of what all has been going on. Lots of downers, but I will try to find an upper to share.
Granddaughter ended up having 3 surgeries at Arkansas Children's Hospital this summer. (1) heart surgery (2) gallbladder (3) to draw off fluid from around her lung and to tie down her diaphragm on that side. The last surgery took place after she got sick 1 1/2 hours into her first day of school (she's a second grader). She is finally back home and doing well now. Praise the Lord.
All of our koi and some of our goldfish died. We are down to 8 goldfish now. Came real close to just going ahead and giving up the pond and filling it in.
We are finally back in our house after several weeks of having our hardwood floors refinished. They really look good.
Daddy had more problems with his back and had to be in the hospital for a few days. At least it was not the spine giving way as we had feared. "Just" muscle spasms, but very painful.
Sparky does not like for us to leave him alone. Lots of times we will just put him in his crate to keep him out of mischief. This time we did not. We were only out on the deck for less than 20 minutes, and he could see us through the french doors. But one by one he started carrying my shoes from my closet and down the long hallway to the living room. He was on the way with another when we interrupted him. He was picking out the shoes that I had worn that day. This picture of Sparky is on our floors in process of being refinished.
And, lest I should forget, I dislocated my big toe. Stubbed it on a huge rock we use as stepping stone. This happened on the evening of our 39th wedding anniversary. So that is how we spent our evening - in the emergency room. The ER doc said it was dislocated and broken. (dislocation was obvious as it was pointing to the toe next to it). But, at my follow up appointment, the orthopaedic doc said it was not broken. Either way, I have been hobbling around.
I have a friend who has always been able to share many stories of trials and tribulations with her family, friends and neighbors. I certainly hope that is not rubbing off on me! I refuse to allow that right now! Good things are coming my way!
Has anyone seen the rain?? Isn't it wonderful. We may get a final crop of tomatoes. Our little garden did real well this year.
