SPRING IN THE HEART OF ARKANSAS

I always know that Spring is almost here when the Mayapples start poking out of the ground. This year they nearly got bit by a cold snap, but they made it and now they are blooming. Here is my little crop behind the creeping phlox and the lone tulip.

I also know that Spring is here when the dogwoods are in bloom. I just wish the Spring flowers would stay around longer than what they do.

Last fall I planted a bunch of pansies in my little tomato garden. But I did find room the other day to set out 6 tomato plants. The pansies will last a while, so I may have to move some to other beds or flower pots. I've already been moving petunias and dividing and moving hostas. There's much more to do. The Arkansas Tech plant sale is next weekend. I usually pick up 2 or 3 flats of annuals there.

Arkansas has been having several spring storms lately. Nothing serious around here close, but it still has been making our parents very nervous. I'm still a kid at heart I guess. During last nights storm when the old pecan tree limbs were twisting and bending in the hard wind, I had my nosed pressed to the picture window looking out. I did move before the birdfeeder got blown out of the dogwood tree and onto the sidewalk.

Gabby goes to Arkansas Children's Hospital Monday to have dental work done. This has to be done before her heart surgery this summer. The dental work will be done under general anesthesia and in the same swection where her heart surgery is done.

Also on Monday is our monthly trip to VA. Daddy has to be in Fort Smith in the morning for his blood test, then on to Fayetteville in the afternoon for his eye exam.

Other news since my last post - Maggie got her arm hung in the treadmill. Didn't break any bones, but did burn it real good on the soft side from wrist to elbow. I have a new puppy. Sparky is a black and tan dachsund. Cutie. Now my Sweetie got a new GPS and we have been hunting geocaches.

Life goes on in Arkansas.
