PEDIATRIC HEART SURGEON DIES
So, last weekend Dr. Jonathan Drummond-Webb, the world's leading pediatric heart surgeon, took his own life in Little Rock, Arkansas. Our first reaction (after shock and disbelief) was "How could he do this to us!" You see, he was the "Man with the Plan" for our 5 year old granddaughter. Of course, we can easily see the pressures the man was under. Hundreds upon hundreds of surgeries each year and families like ours looking to him to perform miracles.
We first met him after her original surgeon retired, and we had to travel to the Cleveland Clinic for her second surgery. By the time for her next surgery Dr. Drummond-Webb was closer to home and performed that surgery at Arkansas Children's hospital.
She will possibly have more surgery within the coming year. God provided the world's best heart surgeon before when needed, and we can fully expect the same in the future.

I certainly agree, my wife and I have two children that have cystic fibrosis and we frequent Childrens Hospital. We never had the privelige of meeting Dr. Drummond-Webb, but I have met many doctors there that shared his passion for caring for our "future leaders". Our heart felt sympathy goes out to his family and patients. We can only imagine what drove a person of his ability to this horrible end.
